Curt McReynolds

Board Member

I serve as the President & CEO with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township since 2008. We serve roughly 2,000 Club members in Carpentersville and the Dundee Township communities throughout the year. The organization has grown tremendously over the past 8 years, currently we are the 2nd largest Boys & Girls Clubs organization in the State of Illinois, with eight (8) total Club locations. We also offer Sports Leagues and a Summer Program, so all together we serve nearly 3,000 children in a calendar year. I am honored to lead BGCDT and work for an amazing Board of Directors that consist of 30 local business leaders and professionals, as well as an awesome staff of 12 full-time and about 55 part-time team members. Great job…even better team.

I am married to my wife of 11 years, Jessica, and we have three children (Abbey, Nolan and Logan).

What is your favorite thing about serving on the Board?

I don’t know if I would consider anything that is my favorite, but I do feel a sense of pride for the overall quality and level of professionalism on the staff at FSA. Being a fellow non-profit leader, I have a tremendous amount of respect for the way the agency is positioned by the staff, particularly the leadership team at FSA, led by Lisa LaForge and Bernie May. The budget is stable and has been for several years (which is fantastic in the current State climate) and the agency continues to evolve and remain relevant in the community.

What is your favorite memory or moment with FSA over the years?

My favorite moment was just recently when the Agency launched a new website, created a new monthly e-newsletter and has made a serious commitment to re-branding the agency with a new logo and collateral pieces as well. It’s fun to see the growth for the Agency in that department.

How did you get started with FSA?

I was recruited to the Board by Pat Glen in 2011. I just recently accepted the role of the Marketing Chair for the Board and I enjoy that role. The agency has made some great stride in the past 6 months in terms of overall marketing and brand awareness.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Several…#1 is Starbucks coffee. I enjoy a good dark roast with cream and sugar. I love dark chocolate Kit Kat candy bars as well. Outside of food, I enjoy Sunday’s in the Fall watching Green Bay Packers games. My kids are my best guilty pleasure…just stealing time with them and hanging out with them is fun. Being a Dad is pretty cool, definitely the best part of my life.

What is your favorite TV show and favorite movie?

Currently I enjoy Shark Tank and Survivor. I don’t watch a lot of sitcoms or much TV in general, outside of sports. My favorite movie is Hoosiers.

Who has had the most influence on your work career?

I think my first “boss”, Bill Elder, was a great role model. I interned for him and eventually he hired me and he was the same person everyday. I never understood the importance of that quality until I was hired for the position I am right now. Consistency is a special trait and too often under-appreciated.

My current Board Members are great advisors as well…so many local business leaders that I have a ton of respect for and appreciation for their time and effort.

My wife is amazing as well. She handles so many things at home and that really allows me to give everything I can to my role with BGCDT and the Board’s I serve on as well. Currently, in addition to FSA, I serve on the Board of Directors for two local Boards (Northern Kane Co. Chamber of Commerce, Dundee Township Rotary Club) and the National Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Professional Association (TPA).
