Cynthia Terrazas
Manager of MCRT Crisis Services
Cynthia started working for FSA in October of 2024 as the Bilingual SASS Therapist with Aurora clients, with a focus on clients facing suicidal and homicidal ideation. A year later, she took on the position of Manager for FSA’s MCRT Crisis Program. Cynthia has always worked in crisis, and loves crisis work. She enjoys the fast-paced and quick thinking that comes with working in a crisis department. Before FSA, Cynthia came with over three years of experience working in the domestic violence and sexual assault field. For three and a half years, she held a bilingual counselor position in which she worked with kids, teenagers, and adult survivors of DV and SA, as well as adult perpetrators of DV. Cynthia has worked very closely with the Kane County legal system and has experience working with both incarcerated youth at Kane County Juvenile Justice Center, as well as adult clients in Kane County Jail.
Cynthia completed her education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She graduated in 2020 with a BS in Clinical/Community psychology and a minor in Spanish, and in 2021 received her Master’s of Social Work with a Clinical Advanced Mental Health track.
From a young age, Cynthia loved learning about mental health. As she got older, it was important for her to get into this field, especially to work with the Hispanic community. Throughout Cynthia’s career, most of her services were given in Spanish to hopefully help her community understand the importance of mental health and mental health resources. With her new position, she hopes to continue networking with the community to continue to grow FSA’s Mobile Crisis Response Team.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and her 1-year-old dog that keeps her busy 24/7.
