Amanda Hinthorne

I am a school based therapist at Larkin High School. I also work overnights for Screening Assessment and Support (SASS) Crisis.

I had heard about the programs from another employee. She had been here for years and was correct in telling me that the atmosphere & support within the agency are awesome!

I work with kids who struggle daily to get through school days due to their mental health issues. I educate my clients and advocate for them in order for them to start seeing successes, regardless of the size of goal. I also try to encourage family support and growth for each of my clients. Sometimes, this means opening a dialogue or encouraging a connection.

Seeing changes in the clients. I love seeing a client handle situations that might've put them into crisis at a previous time.

I love working with adolescents. Being in the school has been a fun new experience!

I would go back to my longest running manager. My manager at my previous workplace hired me with no experience and always let me know she believed that I would learn and succeed. She offered me opportunities to learn other skills & in other areas which I feel is rare.
